Corporate Services – HR Manager
The British Embassy Beirut is recruiting a Corporate Services Manager able to lead on the human resource management of the Embassy's 70+ Lebanese staff. The successful candidate will be involved in the development, implementation and interpretation of the Embassy's staff policies and will also have budgetary and line management responsibilities and play a key role in providing quality customer service to all Embassy staff.
Duties include
- Co-ordination and administration of the recruitment of new staff including participating in interview panels
- Arrange contracts for new staff liaising with legal advisor as necessary
- Calculate terminal gratuity payments and administer salary changes and performance related pay bonuses
- Maintain induction procedures
- Maintain and update Terms and Conditions of Service, including liaison with legal adviser
- Advise staff on Terms and Conditions, including providing advice and support for managers during performance improvement procedures
- Maintenance of staff records
- Investors in People co-ordinator
- Diversity champion
- Co-ordination of administration for UK based officers
- Authorising claims according to Foreign and Commonwealth Office guidance
- Providing management information to Foreign and Commonwealth Office
- Training co-ordinator
- Responsibility for overseeing the Transport and Information Technology Sections.
- Maintaining devolved budgets for uniforms, transport, IT, training and HR related spend, reporting to the Head of Corporate Services and the Corporate Finance Manager.
- Direct line manager for 3 team members and counter signing officer for 4 officers.
Essential skills necessary
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus
- Strong organisational, analytical and time management skills, with very good attention to detail
- Personal drive, flexibility, resilience under pressure and decisive, with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within tight deadlines
- Ability to travel occasionally within the region or internationally
Minimum Qualifications
- A college/university level degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience is preferred
- At least 3 years of HR experience in a managerial capacity. At least 2-3 years experience managing staff
- Background in accounting, finance, budgets, human resources, estates work preferred
- Fluent in English and Arabic
- Strong IT skills using databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, Internet and MS Project experience, with Oracle and Vista systems preferred
The British Embassy offers a competitive remuneration package including private medical insurance and benefits in line with local labour law. Specific training and mentoring for the rolewill be provided for the successful candidate. This may include training in London. The successful candidate will be subject to background checks and security clearance. You must have pre-existing work authorisation for Lebanon in order to apply.
